KOHINOOR LONDON
STOP MOTION
This unique stop motion film uses technology to create moving art in plates. The film has been designed using 700+ sublimation printed plates. Each of the frame in the film is a custom designed printed plate. Every frame of the animation is printed on a plate and shot in stop frame style. 3d animations are blended seamlessly into the 2d animations so as to achieve interesting transitions and look for the film. The 2d illustrations brings about a contemporary perspective of Indian chaos balanced in an artistic format. Multiple animations narrating various little nuances in India fill up each frame of the animation that says a different story each time you see the film. While the uniqueness of India is showcased in the illustrations and animations, the execution adds another layer to the film by bringing about an all new style of showcasing the animations, with an unexpected twist of stories playing out on plates that brings alive the idea of India on a plate, the essence of Kohinoor Cooking sauces and meals in minutes. A travelogue that gives you a taste of India in its little stories playing out as animations on plates. Produced for Cultre London, for Kohinoor the films pre production span around 5 months with 2d and 3D illustrations and animations carried out in Aftereffects. Then each frame was printed as an individual plate using sublimation printing tech. A custom made mould was designed for precise placement of these prints into plates so as to match the animation frames for stop motion animation. These plates were then shot within sets designed like modern kitchen in stop motion with plates animating one after the other. Motion rigs are used to achieve seamless camera pans around the sets.
